Bronze Sculpture by Yannis Parmakelis

Bronze sculpture by Yannis Parmekelis (1932 - ) signed and dated 1975.

The piece is illustrated by the Contemporary Greek Art Institute under the title Bouquet, a recurring theme in his work, and is numbered edition 4 of 30.

Yannis Parmakelis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1932. He studied sculpture in Athens, then Paris, with his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1961. Since then his work has been presented in numerous solo and group shows around the world and more than thirty of his sculptures, mostly in bronze, are located at public sites in Greece.

The cast bronze is in very good original condition with good patina. The black painted base (which appears to be of dense material such as concrete) has some very light scratches and a small chip to one corner.

For us this is a striking and expressive piece which presents well.

Dimensions overall (including base): H 52cm x Diameter: 21cm.
Base: H 6cm
