Minimal daybed or sofa, by Robin Day, (1915-2010).
Elegant slim design with teak arms and adjustable back-rest, which can be turned away from the seat to create a single bed. Newly upholstered in dark grey wool, with black Pirelli webbing, to reflect the style of the original. The piece retains its original teak arms, which have beautiful patina, and black metal legs. Original Hille label in place.
The piece was designed in 1957 and in the same year won the Design Council Design of the Year award, and an example is now held in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
