Midcentury chest of six drawers, by R Bennett for E Gomme's G Plan, England, 1965.
This simple and elegant piece was part of the Quadrille range which reflected the growing appreciation for Scandinavian modern design in the UK in the 1960s. It is finished in teak with solid handles and solid sleigh legs, which are of deeper tone. The legs sit on small feet which protect the bottom of the sleigh runners and add to the lightness of the design.
Very good original condition with minor signs of wear as one might expect from age and use. Drawers work well, and all four small feet are in place. The back is marked with the model number (model 1386), and the gold E Gomme stamp can be seen on the bottom of the top drawer.
