Writing desk, with single pedestal and bent plywood legs, designed by Cees Braakman for UMS Pastoe of Utrecht, Netherlands. This desk was part of the "oak series" which was designed in 1948.

The desk has three drawers and shelf to the left and two bent ply legs to the right. The drawers are lined with curved ply to give a soft interior finish. The top has been lightly and refinished, elsewhere the piece is in excellent condition with signs of use and the patina associated with its age.

Dimensions: W: 125cm x D: 62cm x H: 73cm

Cees Braakman was head of the Pastoe design team from 1945 to 1978 and was responsible for the development of their first modern furniture line. In 2013 Pastoe celebrated their 100 year anniversary with a major exhibition - "Like Pastoe" - at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam.
