Three-seat leather sofa by Hans Wegner for AP Stolen, model AP62, Denmark 1960s.
The AP62 sofa was designed around 1960 and is an elegant combination of simple lines and luxurious finish, this model (AP62/3) features black leather upholstery and rosewood frame, with in-lay details. The arms are a simple continuation of the legs, ending at mid-height, and the back rest slopes gently for comfort. There is a wooden sub-frame strengthened by curved metal braces running front to back, and the back is also finished in leather.
The sofa is in very nice vintage condition with an aged patina and character. The wood and upholstery have worn in line with age and use, while the detail and padding to the arms has remained in good shape. Professional work has been done in recent years to give the seat good support, and to help preserve the shape of the cushions: the multi-pocket inners have been re-filled with feather and foam, and Pirelli webbing has been installed using the original Rotex slots. The rosewood frame has interesting grain patterns, and variations in tones; photographs are taken in natural light and colours are best shown in images 1-3.
