Large Mid-Century circular flush mount light by Kaiser Leuchten, Germany, 1960s.

A striking piece and rare to find in this large size (50cm diameter). The glass shade comprises two pieces of heavily textured clear glass pinned to a white metal frame with screw-in metal fixings. The main body of the shade is made of a single piece of glass wrapped into a ring; the flat disc has three metal wires running through it. The original wire cover is still in place - this means the wires are not visible through the glass (see image 5). For us, the glass evokes the ice glass designs of Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala.

The piece is in very good original condition, with original paper label in place and original screws. Minor wear in line with age. The fixture has its original wiring and takes four large screw fitting bulbs and has ceramic bulb-holders.

Diameter 50cm.
Height of light when assembled 14cm; height of glass ring only 10.5cm this small difference creates a shadow gap when installed.
