A cream-coloured pendant light of Rotaflex (spun cellulose acetate) with brass details, produced by Bergboms in Sweden. Design attributed to Sigvard Bernadotte.

The light is in good original condition with minor signs of wear in line with age and use, including small marks.

Wiring:
The wiring has been renewed in recent years and we advise that you test/replace in the country of install to meet local needs. The wiring is currently black flex and the bulb holder takes an E27 bulb. Due to the delicate nature of this piece we advise using a low-heat bulb to protect the light for the future. New ceiling canopy will be required.

Approximate dimensions:
H: 34cm (including brass but excluding cable)
W: 45cm

The name Rotaflex refers to a patented method of spinning a thread of cellulose acetate around a mould; lampshades of this material give a soft and diffuse glow. Rotaflex lights were developed by a number of companies in Europe and the United States in the mid-20th century, including ARP in France (founded by Guariche, Motte & Mortier), Rotaflex in the UK (where John and Sylvia Reid produced a number of designs) and Bergboms in Sweden, where this piece was found.
