Bronze Push-Pull Door Handle with Basket-Work Relief Pattern
A square bronze push-pull door handle with a dark brown patina and raised basket-work pattern. Mid-to-late 20th century, European.
This is a heavy piece, made of cast and patinated bronze. We have not cleaned or polished the metal and it is offered as found. There are interesting changing tones from use, from dark brown (brighter in direct light) to warmer highlights along the top edge from years of handling. There are age-appropriate signs of wear, including green oxidation, and traces of old paint to the bracket. Patina suggests the piece was previously fitted with the bracket below the left side (as shown in the main image), but the design is symmetrical and has no defined orientation.
The handle is fixed to the door using two bolts which screw into the base of the bracket; fixing bolts are not included.
Approximate dimensions when oriented as shown in the main image.
Overall: H 14.5cm x W 16.2cm (including bracket) x D 6cm
Approximate weight: 1.5kg
