Brutalist Aluminium Door Panel with Weathered Grey Patina

A Brutalist cast aluminium door panel with integrated handle and an aged and weathered patina. Second half 20th century, found in Belgium.

A sculptural piece, unsigned, reminiscent of the style of Billy Joe McCarrol and David Gillespie for Forms + Surfaces. The panel would once have been finished in warmer tones, and some traces remain; however now the piece has an interesting aged and weathered patina - typically mid grey with some losses showing more silvery tones below. The design has a textured surface with a sculptural section running laterally across the centre. The handle is on the left, and integrated into the design. A hole positioned close to the left hand edge, is the size of a Euro lock cylinder.

The piece is in vintage condition with wear as one might expect from age and use. Losses to the original finish throughout and further weathering and losses around the handle, keyhole, central band and lower edge. We have categorised the condition as distressed to highlight these points - and refinishing could be considered - however for us the patina is part of its authentic aging and has its own character. Installation:
This is a decorative panel, not a complete door; there are signs of old polystyrene and adhesive to the reverse, but no defined mounting points. It's a reasonably heavy piece which will require suitable fixings and installation.

Approximate dimensions:
H: 210cm
W: 100cm
D: 8.5cm to front of the handle and 5mm at the narrowest points
