Large Brutalist Bronze Door Handles with Tree Bark Pattern (Reserved)
A set of two large and impressive bronze door handles with tree bark design. European, second half 20th century.
Each of the same design, these pieces can be used togther on double doors by turning one as shown in the first image. Heavily textured, with lots of movement and depth in the design, the relief appears to have been cast from part of a tree, possibly silver birch bark, with its characteristic horizontal lines. Very nice dark patinated finish, left as found.
The patina shows differing tones from exposure and various areas of use over time, and there are minor signs of age, as one might expect, including scratches, light traces of old paint and verdigris.
Installation:
The handles are fitted to the door using two long bolts (not supplied) as suit the thickness of your door and the weight of the metal.
Approximate dimensions:
- Main plate of one handle is H 19.5cm x W 14cm.
- The depth from the face of the door to the front face of the handle is approximately 8cm.
Weight: approximately 2.4kg each
