Foam glass pendant light by Kalmar of Austria, model Dürnstein. Designed late 1960s or early 1970s. 2 available, price per piece.
Each light features four squares of foam glass on a metal frame with a long chain and original ceiling canopy. The glass of the panels has a handmade feel, with soft organic shape and texture, and contains thousands of small bubbles giving an appearance of semi-opaque white. All hardware is silver colored; the chain is nickel plated.
The lights are in good original condition with Kalmar label in place. The wiring has been renewed in recent years using white twisted flex, and each light has a single bulb-holder taking a large screw-fitting (E27) bulb. We recommend the use of low heat bulbs to protect these fixtures for the future; in the images the bulbs are very warm LED bulbs which give a slightly orange glow through the panels. Due to the age of these pieces, there may be small imperfections or nicks in the glass, especially around the fixing holes (which are covered by fixing screws when in use).
The full size of the light as shown, including chain and canopy:
H 90cm x D 20cm x W 20cm
The glass squares are approximately 17cm x 17cm.
The lights will be dismantled for shipping.
