Rare Pyramid table with grey folded metal frame, designed by Wim Rietveld for Ahrend de Cirkel. The design of the table - inspired by the Compass table of Jean Prouvé but with a frame that allowed several to be stacked together - received the Signe d'Or award in 1960.
This piece has minimal traces of use and age; all rubber feet are intact and the Ahrend stamp appears on the frame. The table is offered here with a new toughened glass top (160cm x 80cm) to create a large desk or dining table.
Wim Rietveld (Netherlands, 1924 - 1985) was the youngest son of the pioneering architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld - one of the principal members of the Dutch artistic movement, De Stijl.
Dimensions (approx size, frame only): H: 75 cm x W: 130 cm x D: 60 cm
The table is finished in the same light grey paint as the Result chairs by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld shown separately, here.
